The best of old and new

Some of my ideas about how to improve the world around myself may sound like an attempt to return to a bygone age, but it isn't; it's a picking and a choosing of good things from various time and places, selecting the best of old and new, and letting drop worthless things that may try to come along wth some useful ones.

In particular, I don't assume that something's a good idea just because no-one thought of it for a long time.

Modern things worth keeping

I do use quite a few modern things, and don't object to that. Here are some of my favourites.

Fridges
This is something I could do without, but is really quite convenient.
Bicycles (and tricycles)

Modern things I don't or wouldn't miss

Some of these I'd be delighted to get rid of from my life; others I've just noticed as being things people often assume are important, where I disagree.
